TESTIMONIALS
"Blythe has brought a sense of insight, playfulness, open dialogue, caring editor-shipping and amazing flexibility with her writers, their vagaries and her own time, as my editor. It's as if we each felt that for the time emailing her and talking with her on the phone and in person, we were the center of her attention. Twelve years in an editorial position is more than a milestone. It's coveted and full of possibilities.
'Wow' was one of the common reactions from my sources who submitted to my research and probing, when they saw the final outcome of my articles in Spokane Coeur d’ Alene Living. They all were impressed with the style, look and feel of the articles, largely due to the leadership Blythe has shown.
While I always felt I had a caring and listening ear when talking with her about stories and about life, she honored our work, our passions and went to bat for us.
A magazine is the sum of its parts, and I think writing is key, as are graphics, to that engine. The ads, well, they are a mosaic, never to be the centerpiece to any magazine. Those sums of all those parts were juggled, managed, duck-tapped, soothed and sculpted by Blythe’s editing. She has a high place in my journalism display in my mind and heart.
I've been around the journalism block a few hundred times, and as always, working for Blythe, I have felt respected and listened to, and my writing was worked into the magazine as if I deserved the second and third edits and placement of my stories.
My blending of features writing, new journalism and memoir writing has always been protected by Blythe, as an editor. She is an asset, not so easily replaced, or maybe never replaced. "

"I have never had an editor as caring and well-spoken (written?) and on the ball as Blythe." August 26, 2011

“I’ve had the opportunity to work with a number of editors over the last twenty years as a writer, and Blythe Thimsen is at the top of my personal list. She combines great writing and editing skills with an ability to deal very effectively and personally with many different people. Her combination of creativity and administrative savvy is rare. One without the other is worth something, but the two together are invaluable both for those who work for her and those who need to employ someone gifted and competent for a key position.” April 29, 2009

“Blythe is an extremely organized, dedicated, sophisticated, intelligent, and creative editor. She displays the upmost integrity for writing and publishing relevant and interesting reader-worthy content, not just what a publisher wants because it's related to ad sales. She is also an excellent and friendly verbal communicator, whether it's when interviewing people for a story, attending community events, or interacting with graphic designers, freelance writers, and sales team. Moreover, she maintains a positive attitude while successfully handling multiple responsibilities and work challenges.” July 31, 2008

“Blythe is the sole editor at Spokane Coeur d'Alene Living Magazine, a 200-plus page glossy that represents Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho. Not only is she the editor but she practically writes the entire magazine. But we're happy she does; she creatively comes up with compelling content and writes with flair and vision. When it comes to writing and editing, Blythe is a rock star.” July 21, 2008
